The Integrity Dividend

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

Leading by the Power of Your Word by Tony Simons

The gap between respecting our government and corporate leaders is leading to greater and greater mistrust. Yet, credibility is the foundation of effective leadership. Tony wrote and published this in 2008. It is even more applicable today than when written.

Tony and Barry Posner have done research for more than 25 years. They asked several hundred thousand people what they look for and admire in a leader. “Credibility is the foundation of leadership” by a huge margin was the number one answer.

They went farther and asked people what that phrase meant. Do what you say you will do.

The book is a series of stories from influential leaders who practiced above in all they did…and how that translated into greater success for themselves and their companies.

I enjoy reading about the successes of others. This is outstanding book and one that all politicians, government bureaucrats, and corporate executives should read. Politicians and government bureaucrats should be required to write detailed book review to see if they learned and remembered anything!

We’re all familiar with the phrase “promise less, do more.” Tony talks about leaders who have the personal discipline to actually do it…and how they do it. That personal discipline is what sets them apart.

It’s easy to “talk the talk”. I enjoyed reading “how” leaders who “walk the walk” actually lived a life that automatically feeds The Integrity Dividend.
