Employment recruiting is advertising. If you want to attract the best candidates to your jobs, you must sell your company and jobs to candidates. Unfortunately, most employers "Post and Pray". You, as employers are busy. It′s easy to fall into the trap of creating a job posting quickly, usually without a lot of thought about who you want to read the ad, and often without even including a salary range.

  1. The best candidates are currently working and they don′t have any more time than the rest of us.
  1. The best candidates respond to employment ads that are presented professionally, have complete information, and are presented by employers who aren′t afraid to tell people what their salary is.
  1. Candidates for different types of jobs look for different information. Sales Managers look for different things than Executive Housekeepers do.
  1. Candidates assume that employers with low paying jobs will advertise their salary as "competitive" or "negotiable" or "depending on experience." Those terms are too vague and the best candidates don′t bother responding. (But the unemployed sure will.)
